How It Happened
Both teams got off to a sluggish start offensively before Breana Grim netted the game's first  bucket nearly two full minutes in to put the Spartans up, 2-0. York eventually built up an 11-6 lead with six different Spartan contributing points and maintained the lead on their way to an 15-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Diplomats battled back to tie the game, 22-22, with 2:30 left to play in the second quarter on a Hailey Cabanas made three-pointer. The Spartans never relinquished the lead in the period and went on to end the quarter on a 6-0 run with threes from Grace Masser and Grim to take a 28-22 lead into halftime.

Grim led all scorers with 10 points in the first half on a 4-for-6 effort from the field. The York defense held F&M to just 20.6% (7-for-34) from the field while the Spartans shot 40.7% (11-for-27) including 60.0% from three-point range.

F&M opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run with four points by Gia Sioutis to tie the score, 28-28, with 7:21 left in the period. From there, the Dips went on a four-minute scoring drought while the Spartans opened up a five-point lead with a layup from Alyssa Dougherty and a trio of free throws by Grim. After the two teams traded points, Masser knocked down a clutch three-pointer with 1:18 left to give York some much-needed breathing room as Cabanas scored a layup which cut the Spartan margin to 39-34 at the end of the quarter.

The Spartans compiled a 9-4 and opened up a 10-point lead cemented by a layup from Lydia Powers five minutes into the fourth quarter for her first career points. The Diplomats would not go down without a fight as they out-scored the Spartans, 14-10, through the five minutes of the game, but it would prove to be not enough.

The Spartans will wrap up their home stand on Saturday with a non-conference contest with Johns Hopkins at 1 p.m.
