How It Happened
• The Spartans took control of the game early as they spent a majority of the first quarter in the Eagles defensive zone. York held a 7-2 margin in shots including 5-2 in shots on goals. Angelina Catania recorded five saves in goal for the Eagles in the first quarter.
• The second quarter was much of the same as the Spartans continued to pressure the Eagle defense. The Spartans finally broke through late in the second quarter.
Katelyn Landis drove the ball down the right sideline and slipped a pass to
Claire Burrows who knocked the ball into the back of the cage for the 1-0 lead.
• The Green and White added to the lead with a pair of goals in the third quarter. The first goal of the quarter came on another penalty corner.
Hannah Downs inserted the ball to
Olivia Miller who drove home the Spartans' second goal of the game. It would take just over a minute to make it 3-0 as Landis created an Eagle turnover in the box and one-timed a shot for the 3-0 lead. That closed out the scoring for the game.
• The Spartans held a 24-6 advantage in total shots including an 18-3 margin in shots on goal. York also held a 6-3 edge in penalty corners for the game. Catania made 11 saves for the Eagles while
