YORK, PA – The #23 York College field hockey team closed out their 2025 home campaign with a dominating 2-0 win over Hood College on Saturday afternoon in York.
The Spartans scored single goals in the first and second quarters as they rolled to victory.
York improves to 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the Commonwealth while the Blazers fall to 8-8 and 3-2 in the league.

How It Happened
• The Spartans were all over the Blazers from the beginning as they drew their first penalty corner of the game a mere 1:18 into the game. That trend continued as York had eight penalty corners in the first 11:29 of the game. The Green and White finally drew first blood in the 13
th minute of the game as
Kelsey Welsh took a penalty corner for York. She sent the ball to the top of the circle where
Katelyn Landis hammered home a shot for the 1-0 Spartan lead. The Green and White kept the pressure on the Hood defense as they out-shot Hood 12-0 and had a 12-0 bulge in penalty corners after 15 minutes of play.
• The second quarter was much of the same as the Spartans continued to spend most of the play in the Hood defensive third. The Green and White added to the lead in the 28
th minute as York moved the ball up the field with a counter.
Kelbie Linebaugh received a pass just outside the top of the circle and slipped a pass to
Claire Burrows who trickled a shot into the goal for her fifth of the year. York finished the first half with a 19-0 bulge in both shots and corners.
• The third quarter saw the offensive pace slow a bit as the Blazers got their first penalty corner and first shot four minutes into the second half. York still had a 6-1 margin in total shots for the period.
• York began the fourth quarter just like the first three with high pressure against the Blazers. However, Hood did put together a mini-run with three penalty corners and a shot in a one minute period. Fortunately for York, they were able to keep the clean sheet. The Blazers pulled their goalie with 3:11 left in the game but York wouldn't be able to tack on an empty net goal.
• York finished the game with a 34-2 bulge in total shots including a 16-0 margin in shots on goal. The Spartans had a 28-4 margin in penalty corners. Grace Guy recorded 13 saves in goal for the Blazers in the loss.
