How It Happened
The Spartans came out of the gates strong, but the Pride made a run later in the first quarter as York owned a 13-9 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. The Green and White took control early as they opened the game on an 11-3 run with Widener coming up empty on seven of their first eight possessions. The Pride eventually gained traction and went on to erase a large portion of their deficit as they out-scored the Spartans 6-2 through the final 4:27 of the opening period.

The turning point of the game was the second quarter during which the Spartans out-scored the Pride 19-12 to take a 32-21 halftime lead. Widener turnovers fueled the shift in momentum to York's favor as the Pride gave the ball away nine times which resulted in 14 points for the Spartans off those turnovers. The Pride only attempted seven field goals in the period, but went to the free throw line seven times as they went 5-for-7 which helped salvage a dreadful offensive performance.

York held serve in the third period and opened up a 15-point lead (50-35) by the quarter's end after out-gaining Widener 18-14 in the period. Turnovers once again plagued the Pride in the third as they committed seven which made a glaring difference in an otherwise even quarter from a statistical standpoint.

The Spartans put the game away as they opened the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run to take their largest lead (21 points) of the game with 7:33 left to play. The Green and White closed out the game with a stellar 12-for-13 performance at the free throw line throughout the fourth quarter which balanced out their 3-for-11 effort from the field.
