How It Happened
The Mustangs went ahead 4-2 very early on, but then went scoreless four over four-and-a-half minutes. During that time, the Spartans went on an 8-0 run to take a 10-4 lead and finished the quarter by holding the Mustangs to single digits. York limited Stevenson to just 15.6% from the field through the first 10 minutes and out-rebounded the Mustangs by a staggering 19-7 margin.

A pair of Georgia Panopoulos free throws put the Spartans ahead 20-6 two minutes into the second quarter which stood as the largest lead of the night for either team. The teams traded blows the rest of the quarter with York holding a 31-22 lead at the halftime break. Alyssa Hocker led all players with eight rebounds in the first half to go along with a team-leading eight points. The Spartans rebounded well as a unit in the first half as they produced a 37-21 margin on the boards.

Stevenson picked up steam in the third quarter and cut a double-digit deficit down to just two points (42-40) with under two minutes to play in the period. York managed to stop the Mustangs on their final three possessions of the quarter while the Green and White went on a 7-0 run sparked by a three-pointer by Shealyn Ricks to take a 47-40 lead into the fourth.

The Spartans maintained a slim lead through the early minutes of the fourth quarter and led by four with seven minutes to go. From there, the Mustang offense went cold for the next four minutes and the Spartans managed to build up a 10-point lead with just under three minutes to play. York went on to finish the game strong and went 9-for-12 from the free throw line over the last 90 seconds with Taylor Brenneman leading the way with six of those points from the charity stripe.
