WESTMINSTER, Md. - The York women's volleyball team fell in four sets in a competitive non-conference tilt at McDaniel on Tuesday night.

Team Records
York 2-9
McDaniel 8-2

How It Happened
McDaniel held off a late surge by York in a 25-18 opening set victory. The Green Terror used a 10-1 run to put the set away as they turned an 11-11 tie into a 21-12 advantage. McDaniel hit a robust .394 in the opening set while the Spartans swung an even .000 for the set.

The Spartans edged out a 25-23 win in the second set as neither team led by more than three at any point in the frame. The Terror made a run at the lead late with a three-point run to tie the match, 23-23, but a crucial kill by Jennifer Taylor combined with a McDaniel attack error gave York the necessary two-point advantage to clinch the set.

The Terror answered with a 25-21 victory in the third set to take a 2-1 match lead. McDaniel led 21-20 until Angalyn Strouse caught fire and ripped off three-straight kills to put her team ahead by four and in position to clinch the set. After a Morgan Nolte kill broke up the McDaniel run, Strouse notched the clinching point with her sixth kill of the set as she accounted for the final five points of the frame.

McDaniel battled through multiple lead changes to prevail, 25-23, in the fourth set and clinch the match. The Spartans used a 7-1 run to take a 21-20 lead and a back-and-forth battle ensued. After the two sides traded blows, a Spartan service error followed by a Spartan attack handed the Terror the necessary two points they needed to wrap up the match.

McDaniel's Angalyn Strouse led all players with 18 kills on the night and Jennifer Taylor paced the Spartans with 14 … Alyssa Mott led all players with three service aces and led York with 20 assists … Georgianna Kahley led the Spartans with 12 digs.
