READING, PA – The York College men's tennis team notched a dramatic 5-4 MAC Commonwealth win over Albright on Tuesday afternoon in Reading.
The Spartans have won two straight as they improve to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth. The Lions fall to 5-6 and 0-2 in the conference.
The Spartans took control of the match early as they captured all three doubles points. The Spartan tandem of
Ben Dorsey and
Jason Lutz posted an 8-3 first doubles victory.
Evan Stehman and
Hayden Musser earned an identical 8-3 win in the second doubles contest.
Emmet Larson and
Ian Bartles recorded an 8-4 third doubles win as York took a 3-0 lead to singles play.
The Spartans clinched the team victory early as Dorsey earned a 6-0, 6-0 first singles win over Adam Good. Lutz clinched the team win with a 6-0, 6-2 second singles win as York grabbed a 5-0 lead.
The Lions responded with wins in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles matches, making the final score a close one.
The Spartans play their final non-conference match of the year on Friday as they head to Westminster, Maryland to face the McDaniel Green Terror. The match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
