YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis program opened the MAC Commonwealth portion of their schedule with a 7-2 league win over Eastern University on a brisk Saturday afternoon in York.
The win snaps a two-game losing streak as the Spartans got off to a good start in conference play.
The Spartans are now 2-7Â overall while they are 1-0 in the Commonwealth. Eastern falls to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Green and White captured two of the three doubles points. The York duo of
Evan Stehman and
Hayden Musser combined to post an 8-2 second doubles victory.
Emmet Larson and
Ian Bartles teamed up to record an 8-1 third doubles win as the Spartans took a 2-1 lead to singles play.
Ben Dorsey began singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 first singles win over Jacob DeVage.
Jason Lutz earned a 7-5, 6-0 second singles win to put the Spartans up 4-1. The Green and White got a 6-2,6-0 third singles win from Stehman while Musser earned a 6-1, 6-0 fourth singles win.
The Eagles got a fifth singles win but Bartles closed out the match with a 7-6, 6-1 win in the sixth singles match.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday, April 9 when they head to Albright College to face the Lions in a MAC Commonwealth contest. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
