GAME 1
York 4, F&M 2

Pitchers of Record
WP: Natalie Rietema (5-4)
LP: Ainsley McClure (3-4)

How It Happened
The Spartans jumped out in front with two runs in the first inning as the first six-straight batters reached base safely. Daphney Adams opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field that brought Morgan Sauers in from third. Emma Wade followed with a double to left center which drove in Gretchen Barstad for the game's second run.

The Spartans picked another run in the third and extended the lead  to 3-0 as Alexis McDonaugh came through with a two-out RBI-single. The Diplomats managed to escape with minimal damage as they forced a ground out on the next Spartan batter to leave two runners stranded.

After being held to just one hit through the first three innings, Franklin & Marshall doubled their hit total in the fourth and got on the board for the first time on the day as Alexa Klepper scored from second on a wild pitch. Natalie Rietema managed to regroup after the wild pitch and went on to retire the next two batters in order to leave a Diplomat stranded on third and preserve the lead.

Barstad added an important insurance run for the Spartans as she led off the fifth inning with a home run. F&M came back to test the York lead in the seventh after starting off the inning with back-to-back walks before Hannah Matusiak drove in a run to cut the Spartan lead to two. Rietema once again buckled down in the clutch and went on to retire the next three batters in order to seal the win.

The Spartans scratched two more runs across as McDonaugh drew a bases-loaded walk and Kylee Paules reached base on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded.

Adams tacked on another run in the second inning with an RBI-double which drove in Barstad for the final scoring play of the day.
