Spartans Volleyball Earns a Split in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Spartan women's volleyball team went 1-1 on Saturday at a tri-match hosted by Johns Hopkins. York defeated Ursinus, 3-0, and fell, 3-0, to the third-ranked host Blue Jays.

How It Happened
The Spartans edged out a pair of 25-23 victories over Ursinus in both the first and third sets to go along with a convincing 25-13 win in the second set to sweep the Bears. York hit a season-best .267 and racked up 48 kills which is a season-high for a three-set match.

Morgan Nolte and Jennifer Taylor led all players with 12 kills each against Ursinus, while Nolte also led the Spartans with four blocks. Alyssa Mott led all players with a career-high tying 42 assists and Jackie Karcz led everyone with 10 digs.

Johns Hopkins kept it simple with three consecutive 25-14 victories over York as the Blue Jays earned their fifth-straight win. Hopkins hit a robust .473 as a team with 43 kills and amassed 9.5 total blocks. Simone Adam led all players with 12 kills and Nolte led York with nine.

Spartan libero Jasmine Doguin eclipsed the 1000-dig mark for her career after compiling 12 digs on the day and now has 1009 for career. Doguin is just 282 digs shy of cracking the top-10 in program history.

What's Next
The Spartans resume Commonwealth play with a home match against Albright on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
