WILKES-BARRE, PA – The York College men's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over King's College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The Spartans improve to 2-1 overall while the Monarchs suffer their first loss to drop to 2-1.
The Spartans captured two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Spartans won the third doubles match as
Parker Sanders and
Ian Bartles earned a 6-1 victory.
Evan Stehman and
Hayden Musser posted a 6-2 second doubles win to secure the doubles point. King's prevented a sweep with a 6-3 first doubles win.
Sanders kicked off singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 third singles win to put York up 2-0. Bartles rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 sixth singles win for the Green and White. York secured the team win with a Musser 6-3, 6-1 fifth singles victory as York led 4-0.
Stehman added to the lead with a 6-1, 6-3 fourth singles win before King's got on the board with a first singles victory.
Ben Dorsey finished off the match with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 second singles win for the Green and White.
The Spartans conclude their fall campaign on Saturday, October 12 when York hosts Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 12:00 pm start at the Myers Tennis Complex in York.
