Spartan Men Win in Weber's Final Match

The Spartan men's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday

YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team closed out their 2024 fall campaign with a 5-2 non-conference win over Rutgers-Camden on a beautiful Saturday in York.

The match was the final contest for long-time head coach Ryan Weber as he is stepping away from the program at the end of October. Weber has been a part of the Spartan program as a player and then as an assistant coach in 2006 before taking over the top spot in 2008. He started as the head women's coach before taking over the men's program one year later. Weber posted 114 wins as the Spartan men's coach.

The Spartans improve to 3-1 overall with the win while Rutgers-Camden falls to 2-4.

Rutgers-Camden earned the doubles point as they won the first and third doubles matches. Evan Stehman and Hayden Musser combined to earn a 6-1 second doubles win but the Spartans trailed 1-0 heading into singles play.

The Green and White were great in the singles portion of the match as they won five of the six match-ups. Jason Lutz recorded a 6-4, 6-4 first singles win over Kenil Patwa. Ben Dorsey earned a 6-3, 6-3 second singles win over Neal Shah. The Scarlet Raptors won the third singles match but York got a dominating 6-1, 6-1 fourth singles win from Stehman while Musser, his doubles partner, rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 fifth singles win. Ian Bartles closed out the team victory with a 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 sixth singles victory.

The Spartans are now off until the spring season. A full Spartan schedule will be released sometime later this fall semester.
