Stevenson 5-15 (1-8 MACC)
York 13-7 (6-3 MACC)

How It Happened
  • Emori Jeselskis knocked down a three-pointer eight seconds into the game and the Mustangs took the upper hand through the early minutes of play. The Spartans rallied back with a 9-2 run to take a 12-7 lead at the midway point of the first quarter. The two teams went back and forth through the remaining five minutes which resulted in an 18-18 tie at quarter's end. Jeselskis led all scorers with seven points in the period while Alyssa Hocker and Brena Grim each had five for the Spartans.
  • Stevenson committed 10 turnovers in the second quarter while being limited to a 4-for-9 effort from the floor. The Mustangs made the most of their limited offensive opportunities as two of their made field goals came from beyond the arc, including one by Jeselskis with 1:34 left to cut the Spartan lead to one (30-29). The Spartans, who shot 8-for-20 in the second quarter, pulled away late as Taylor Brenneman accounted for five unanswered points in the final 36 seconds to give York a 35-29 advantage at the halftime break.
  • Jeselskis led all players with 13 points in the first half, while Hocker paced the Spartans with nine. Both teams shot 40% from the floor through the first 20 minutes with York holding a 21-17 edge in rebounds.
  • The Spartans opened up their largest lead of the game (41-31) with 5:29 left in the third quarter with Hocker accounting for four of the team's first six points of the period. The comfortable Spartan lead was short-lived as the Mustangs came all the way back with a 12-0 run to take a 43-41 lead with 27 seconds left. Taylor Burda knocked down a jumper on the ensuing Spartan possession to tie the game and end a five-minute scoring drought, but Erin Dixon scored a layup with two seconds left in the third as the Mustangs took a 45-43 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • The two teams traded blows to open the fourth quarter before back-to-back three-pointers by Burda and Hocker fueled a 6-0 run which put the Spartans ahead by five with 6:02 left and forced a Mustang timeout. Hocker would go on to knock down two more three-pointers as she established a new career-high and increased the York lead to four (67-63) with 2:54 left to play.
  • Trouble set in for the Spartans as they went scoreless over the next 2:20 and during that time the Mustangs had taken a three-point lead. A Burda jumper cut the Spartan deficit to one with 33 seconds left before Stevenson went on to score two free throws to bump the lead up to two as time winded down. With three seconds left, York had one more possession and got the ball to Hocker at the top of the key on a side inbound play. The senior had an open look from about eight feet beyond the three-point arc and put her shot on target, but unfortunately it caught the front of the rim and fell harmlessly to the floor as time expired.
