Team Records
York 2-1-2
Lancaster Bible 2-3-1

How It Happened
  • It did not take long for the Spartans to jump out front as Tyler Howlett set up Brayden Safley for the game's first tally just three minutes into the game. Safely now has two goals on the season, while the assist for Howlett is also his second.
  • The Spartans remained on the offensive and eventually broke through on a pair of Jack Mitzelfelt goals in the 27th and 31st minutes. Mitzelfelt knocked in the first of his two tallies following a rebound after a Cole Kendra shot was stopped by Charger keeper Richie Lockard. The Spartan forward registered his second on a York counter attack with Luke Nall and Matt Martin picking up the assists on the play.
  • The Spartan defense also played a stellar first half as the unit did now allow a single shot on goal despite seven total attempts by the Chargers.
  • York fought off an early attack by the Chargers to open the second half and turned that defense into offense as Howlett found the back of the in the 54th minute of play. Safley picked up the assist as he returned the favor to Howlett as the two reversed their roles from the game's first tally. Howlett now has a pair of goals and a pair of assists on the season.
  • The Spartans found the back of the net once again in the 76th minute on a great connection between Matt Zeiders and Matt Martin. Zeiders played a ball over the top from midfield which allowed Martin to utilize his speed to gain a step on his defender which then allowed Martin to get into position to chip a shot out of the reach of a sprawling Lockard.
  • York tacked on one more goal for good measure in the 88th minute when Tyler Napier rushed to the net and tapped in a rebound for his first career tally.

Up Next
The Spartans remain on the road next Wednesday with a trip to (RV) Lebanon Valley in a MAC crossover tilt scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
