Men's Tennis Falls to First Place LVC on Saturday

The Spartan men dropped their third straight match with a 7-2 setback.

YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 MAC Commonwealth decision to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon at the Myers Tennis Complex in York.

The loss is the third straight for the Spartans as they fall to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the Commonwealth. The Dutchmen remain in first place in the league as they are 3-0 in the conference and 11-3 overall.

The Dutchmen got off to a good start as they swept the three doubles points. They earned an 8-2 first doubles win and an 8-4 second doubles win. The Spartans' third doubles team of Jason Lutz and Hayden Musser put together a strong performance as they fell to LVC's Jeffrey Bauer and Brady McLucas 8-7 (7-5) in a hard-fought match.

The Dutchmen captured each of the first three singles matches in straight sets to take a 6-0 lead. Ben Dorsey got York on the board as he rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 fourth singles win. Lutz outlasted Jesse Beck 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 in the fifth singles match. The Dutchmen closed out the match with a win in the sixth single match.

The Spartans will look to get back on the winning side of the ledger on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to Frederick, Maryland to take on the Hood College Blazers in a MAC Commonwealth contest. Game time is set for 3:30 on Wednesday.
