Box Score FREDERICK, MD – The York College men's tennis team picked up their fifth win of the year as they defeated Hood College 8-1 in MAC Commonwealth action on Wednesday in Frederick, Maryland.
The Spartans improve to 2-2 in the Commonwealth and 5-7 overall. The Blazers fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the league.
The Blazers got off to a good start with a win in the first doubles match up. The Spartans got the equalizer in the second doubles contest as
Ben Dorsey and
Ian Bartles rolled to an 8-0 win in the match. The Spartans won the third doubles match by default as York took a 2-1 lead to singles play.
Dorsey earned a tough 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (12-10) first singles win for York.
Jason Lutz recorded a shutout win in the second singles match as he won 6-0, 6-0.
Lance Fries posted a 6-1, 6-0 third singles win. The Spartans won the final three singles matches by default to provide for the final 8-1 margin of victory.
York returns to action on Friday afternoon as they host Marymount University in a make-up match at the Myers Tennis Complex. The match is set for a 2:30 pm start. Â
