YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 5-4 MAC Commonwealth match to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon at the Myers Tennis Complex in York.
The Dutchmen improve to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Commonwealth. The Spartans suffered their first league loss of the year as they are now 2-1 while they are 7-5 overall.
The Dutchmen captured two of the three doubles matches. The Spartan win came from the second doubles duo of
Hannah Sult and
Bri Serruto as they earned an 8-5 win over Livia Jackson and Meredith Haas. The first doubles match was close as the Spartan tandem of
Elsa Oestermarker and
Brianna Rohrer fell 8-5. The Dutchmen won the third doubles match 8-0.
Oestermarker started singles play by outlasting Nicole Honrade 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) in the first singles match. The Dutchmen won the second, third, and fourth singles matches to secure the team win.
York won the fifth and sixth singles matches to provide for the final score.
Morrissey Walsh won the fifth singles match 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 while
Eleanor Beck posted a 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 sixth singles win.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday when they head to Frederick, Maryland to face the Hood College Blazers. The MAC Commonwealth match is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
