Box Score FREDERICK, MD – The York College women's tennis squad cruised to a 9-0 MAC Commonwealth win at Hood College on Wednesday afternoon in Frederick, Maryland.
The Spartans improve to 3-1 in the conference as they are now 8-5 overall. Hood falls to 1-3 in the league and 3-6 overall.
The Spartans stormed through the doubles matches as they dropped just two games in the three matches.
Elsa Oestermarker and
Brianna Rohrer earned an 8-0 win in the first doubles contest.
Hannah Sult and
Bri Serutto combined to record an 8-1 second doubles win.
Morrissey Walsh and
Eleanor Beck also posted an 8-1 third doubles win.
The Spartans swept through the singles matches, winning all six in straight sets. Oestermarker kicked off singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 first singles victory as she improves to 12-4 in singles play this year.
Sult earned a 6-2, 6-1 second singles win for the Green and White. Serutto pitched a shutout as she earned a 6-0, 6-0 third singles victory for seventh singles win of the year.
Rohrer recorded a 6-0, 6-1 fourth singles victory while Walsh also won 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth singles match. Walsh leads the team in singles wins with a record of 13-2. Beck improved to 8-3 in singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 sixth singles win.
York returns to action on Saturday for a MAC Commonwealth road match at Alvernia. The contest is set for a 1:00 pm start in Reading, PA.
