HERSHEY, PA – The York College men's golf squad finished third at the prestigious Hershey Cup on Monday at Hershey Country Club East in Hershey, PA.
The Spartans finished the tournament with a two-day total of 614. After shooting 308 on Sunday, the Spartans were two strokes better at 306 on Monday. RPI won the team title with a tournament total of 608. The University of Rochester was second at 611 followed by York, Wittenberg (615) and Franklin & Marshall (620). The Spartans were the lone school in the top six teams not ranked in the current coaches poll.
Sophomore
Gavin Ganter was York's top tournament finisher as he placed third overall. Ganter shot a three-over-par 74 on Monday after shooting 76 on Sunday for a total of 150. He was two strokes back of Wittenberg's JF Aber who placed second. RPI's Jacob Lindsay won the individual title by ten strokes over Aber as he shot 138. Lindsay shot 71 on Sunday and followed that with a four-under-par 67 on Monday. The third-place finish is Ganter's third career top five finish.
Senior
Riley Rohlfs finished tied for fifth for the Green and White. Rohlfs finished the tournament with a score of 152 as he shot 74 on Sunday and 78 on Monday. The top five finish is the 13
th in Rohlfs' Spartan career.
Sophomore
Matthew Salter was York's third tournament finisher as he tied for 16
th with a two-day total of 155. Salter fired a 78 on Sunday and improved on that by a stroke on Monday with a 77. Senior
Nick Fioravante was York's fourth finisher as he tied for 31
st with a score of 158. Fioravante had a four-shot improvement on Monday as he shot 77 after an 81 on Sunday.
Sophomore
Matthew Ruzomberka was York's fifth tournament participant as he finished tied for 49
th in the 81-player field. Ruzomberka shot a team total of 163 after shooting an 83 on Monday.
The Spartans return to action on Monday, April 10 when they travel to Ledgerock Golf Club to play in the two-day Alvernia Spring Invitational. The tournament kicks off Monday at 12:00 pm in Mohnton, Pa.
