Men's Tennis Ends Regular Season with a 9-0 Win at Eastern

The Spartans are the fourth seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth tournament

ST. DAVID'S, PA – The York College men's tennis team concluded their regular season with a 9-0 road win at Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans conclude the campaign with a mark of 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the MAC Commonwealth. The Eagles see their season come to a close with a mark of 3-8 overall and 1-6 in the league.

The match began with the Spartans rolling to a trio of wins in the doubles matches. Tej Laliwala and Evan Stehman combined to post an 8-1 first doubles win, their seventh together this year. Ben Dorsey and Jack Leinbach earned an 8-2 second doubles victory as they finish the regular season with an 9-5 record. Jason Lutz and Hayden Musser recorded an 8-2 win of their own in the third doubles contest. That's their sixth win of the year as a duo.

The Spartans won all six singles matches in straight sets. Laliwala posted a 6-2, 6-2 first singles win over Jacob DeVage. Leinbach earned a 6-3, 6-0 second singles victory over Ryan Kratz.

Stehman kept the Spartan roll going with a 6-2, 6-4 third singles win over Jeffrey Day. Dorsey increased his team lead in singles victories to 13 with a 6-0, 6-1 fourth singles win.

Lutz improved to 8-1 in singles play as he rolled past Jacob Craig in fifth singles action. Grant Haffner concluded the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Shane Witzer to conclude the shutout.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday as they travel to top seeded Lebanon Valley in the semifinal round of the 2023 MAC Commonwealth tournament. The Spartans are the tournament's fourth seed. The action kicks off at 3:30 pm in Annville, Pa.
