YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Stevenson University in the Spartans 2022-23 home regular season finale.
The Mustangs improve to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the Commonwealth. The Spartans fall to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the league.
The Spartans are currently in fourth place in the league and a win on Saturday over Eastern would clinch a post-season tournament berth. The Mustangs have clinched their tournament bid and will square off against Lebanon Valley for the regular season championship on Saturday in Annville.
The Mustangs rolled to wins in all three doubles matches. The Spartans third doubles team of
Jason Lutz and
Hayden Musser battled Sathwik Madasi and Simeon Smith before dropping a close 8-6 decision.
The Spartans dropped straight set decisions in the second, third, and sixth singles matches.
Ben Dorsey earned York's lone win in the fourth singles match as he bounced Madasi 6-1, 6-1 in the match.
Tej Laliwala and
Jason Lutz both dropped three set losses in the first and fifth singles matches.
Dorsey improves to 11-4 in singles play as he leads York in wins this year. Dorsey has won four straight singles matches for York. Dorsey also leads the team in doubles wins as he is 9-7 overall with eight of those wins coming with senior
Jack Leinbach.
Lutz suffered his first singles loss of the season as he is now 7-1 overall.
The Spartans conclude their 2022-23 regular season on Saturday as they travel to Eastern University to face the Eagles in a MAC Commonwealth contest. The match is set for a noon start in St. David's, PA.
