YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team wrapped up their 2022-23 home regular season slate with a 9-0 MAC Commonwealth win over Stevenson on Tuesday in York. The Spartans have now clinched the number two seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament.Â
The Spartans improve to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the league. Stevenson falls to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in the league.
The Spartans won all three doubles points to seize the early lead.
Elsa Oestermarker and
Brianna Rohrer rolled to an 8-1 first doubles win. The freshman duo of
Hannah Sult and
Bri Serruto earned an 8-5 second doubles win. The tandem of
Eleanor Beck and
Emily Louie recorded an 8-4 third doubles win.
Oestermarker notched a 6-1, 6-1 first singles victory over the Mustangs' Torrienne Emery. Oestermarker improves to 14-4 overall as she is riding a six-match win streak. Sult outlasted Jacquelyn Nesbeth 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 in the second singles contest. Sult improves to 7-7 with the win.
Serruto cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 third singles win as she earned her eighth win of the year. Rohrer played her final regular season home match and rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Samantha Zudov in the fourth singles match.
Beck continues to have a great season quietly as she earned a 6-2, 6-1 fifth singles win. The victory is Beck's tenth of the year as she has won seven straight singles matches for York. Senior
Emily Louie, who was also playing her final regular season home game, completed the sweep as she posted a 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 sixth singles win.
York closes out their regular season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Eastern University to take on the Eagles in a MAC Commonwealth contest. Game time is set for 12:00 pm in St. David's, PA.
