YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 non-conference decision to Marymount University in a make-up match on Friday at the Myers Tennis Complex.
The Spartans fall to 5-8 overall while the Saints improve to 12-4.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead with two wins in the three doubles matches. Marymount won the first doubles contest 8-1 and the second doubles match 8-2. York managed to get one point with an 8-7 (7-1) third doubles win from
Jason Lutz and
Hayden Musser.
The Saint won the first three singles matches in straight sets to secure the team win. York got a fourth singles win from Lutz as he bested Joshua Nolen 6-4, 6-2. Lutz improves to 5-0 in singles play with the win. The Spartans got another win in the sixth singles match up as Musser defeated Nathaniel Tesfaye 6-3 6-1.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday, April 16 as they head to Reading to play the Alvernia Golden Wolves. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday but the expected Saturday weather necessitated the move to Sunday. The match will be held at Governor Mifflin High School and kick off at 2:00 pm.
