YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team began MAC Commonwealth play on Friday as they earned a 7-2 win at home over Albright College. The match is the Spartans first since their 8-1 win over Lancaster Bible on March 16.

The Spartans improve to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Albright falls to 4-5 overall and 0–1 in the Commonwealth.

York gained the early advantage in doubles play as they won all three matches. However, the degree of difficulty for the Spartans varied in the three contests. Jason Lutz and Hayden Musser rolled to an 8-0 third doubles win. Jack Leinbach and Ben Dorsey earned an entertaining 8-5 second doubles win while Tej Laliwala and Evan Stehman outlasted Fox Bryan and Clay Lewandowski 8-6 in the first doubles match.

Laliwala won the first singles match by retirement to push the Spartan lead to 4-0. The Lions got wins at second and third singles to cut the Spartan lead in half. Fortunately for the Green and White, they won the remaining three singles matches to secure the team victory.

Dorsey cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 fourth singles win as he improves to a team-best 7-3 in singles play.  Lutz recorded a 6-0, 6-2 fifth singles win as he improved to 2-0. Grant Haffner outlasted Gavin Buckley 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the sixth singles match.

The Spartans return to action on Sunday afternoon as they host Salisbury University in a non-conference contest. The match is set for a 2:00 pm start at the Myers Tennis Complex in York.
