ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – The York College men's golf squad finished sixth at Sunday's McDaniel Spring Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, PA. The tournament was cut down to a one day event after Saturday's opening round was washed out by heavy rain Friday night into Saturday morning.
The Spartans shot a team score of 313 to finish four shots out of top five finish. Gettysburg and Dickinson tied for first but the Bullets earned the team title on the tiebreaker. Franklin & Marshall finished third at 304 followed by Allegheny (308) and McDaniel (309) to round out the top five. The tournament featured a 16-team field.
The Spartans were led by the tandem of
Nick Fioravante and
Matthew Ruzomberka as they both shot a five-over-par 77. The duo tied for 15
th overall in the 90-player field.
Dylan Wyatt was York's next finisher as he shot a 79 to finish tied for 27
th.
Riley Rohlfs was York's fourth scorer in the tournament as he carded an eight-over 80 to finish tied for 36
th.
Jacob Fripp was York's fifth starter in the tournament and he shot an 83 for the Spartans.
Jason Velez played as an individual and shot an 80 for York.
The Spartans return to action next Sunday when they head to Hershey to participate in the Hershey Cup. The two-day tournament kicks off on Sunday at noon.
