SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College women's basketball team picked up a hard-earned 73-57 road win at Susquehanna University on Tuesday night in Selinsgrove.
The Spartans had a great defensive third quarter to pull away from the River Hawks and earn the 16-point win. The Green and White tied a school record with 12 blocked shots in the win, a feat they have accomplished two other times in school history.
York improves to 3-2 overall while the River Hawks fall to 2-3. The win concludes a 2-1 road trip for the Spartans.

How It Happened
• The Spartans scored first in the game only to have the River Hawks score the next seven points to take a 7-3 lead.
Breana Grim drilled a three to bring York to within one but Susquehanna went on a 9-3 run to take a 16-9 advantage with 2:19 left in the quarter. York answered with an emphatic 9-0 spurt to take an 18-16 lead after 10 minutes of play.
• The Spartans scored the first four points of the second quarter to push their lead to six. Susquehanna answered with an 11-5 run to tie the game at 27 with 3:01 left in the half. York ended the half strong with a 8-3 run over the final 2:32 of the second quarter as they took a 35-30 lead to the break.
• York came out of the break and smacked the River Hawks with a 10-2 run to take a 13-point lead with just 3:03 remaining in the quarter. The run was a balanced effort as five players scored led by aÂ
Taylor Burda triple. In the third quarter, the Spartans outscored Susquehanna 19-11, turning their five-point halftime lead into a 13-point advantage. York held Susquehanna to 3-of-11 shooting from the floor. The River Hawks converted 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the quarter to keep themselves in the game.
• The Spartans got a Grim floater to start the fourth quarter but Susquehanna turned up the pressure and hit the Spartans with an 8-0 run, cutting the Spartan lead to seven with 7:25 left. The young Spartan squad steadied the ship and fashioned a 7-2 run of their own to stem the tide and push the lead back to 12 midway through the quarter. The Spartans finished off the game with a quick 6-0 spurt late in the quarter, pushing their lead to a game-high 18 points at 73-55.

The Spartans finished the game shooting 48.1% from the floor, 38.9% (7-for-18) from three and 70% (14-for-20) from the stripe … Susquehanna converted just 29.3% from the floor including 4-for-13 (30.8%) from three while they went 19-for-25 (76%) from the line … the Spartans dominated the game on the glass holding a 41-31 margin in rebounding … that rebounding margin led to a 13-7 edge in second chance points … York had a 32-22 bulge in paint points, a trend that shown itself in the three Spartan wins this year … both teams got 18 points off turnovers as Susquehanna committed 21 turnovers while York had 15 … the Spartans outscored the River Hawks in all four quarters … the Spartans blocked a season-high and school-record tying 12 shots in the win.

The Spartans improve to 4-12 all-time against Susquehanna … the teams resumed the series last year after a 17-year hiatus … the Spartans 48.1% accuracy mark was their best of the season and their best mark since shooting 51.1% in a win over Eastern last December 3 … the Spartans are now 3-0 when out-rebounding their opponent … all three of York's wins have come by double digits while their two losses have come by a combined nine points … York limited Susquehanna to just 29.3% field goal percentage, the second time this year they have limited an opponent to under 30% shooting …
