Men's Tennis Falls to Harrisburg on Sunday

The Spartans are still in search of win number one in 2023

YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis squad dropped an 8-1 decision to Penn State Harrisburg in non-conference play on Sunday afternoon in York.

The Lions are off to a good start to their campaign as they improve to 4-1 while the Spartans are still in search of their first win for the fall as they are now 0-3.

Harrisburg captured all three doubles points with two of the three being close matches. The Lions earned an 8-3 second doubles win while the third doubles match saw the Spartan duo of Evan Stehman and Jeremy Hadler drop a tight 8-6 decision. The first doubles Spartan duo of Jason Lutz and Hayden Musser dropped an 8-7 (9-7) match that was very competitive.

Stehman was the Spartans' lone winner in singles play as he bested Owen Ou 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 in the second singles match. The Lions won the other five singles matches in straight sets.

The Spartans have lost three straight to the Lions but still hold a 10-4 edge in the all-time series.

The Spartans return to action on Friday, October 13 to kick off a busy weekend by hosting Gettysburg College in a make-up match. The Spartans and Bullets play at 3:30 pm Friday followed by a road match at Marymount on Saturday and another home match against Rutgers-Camden on Sunday at home. Those three matches will conclude the fall portion of the Spartans' schedule.
