#9 Field Hockey Pushes Win Streak to Six with 1-0 Win

The Spartans notched their third straight shutout and ninth of the season

READING, PA – The ninth-ranked York College field hockey squad posted their sixth straight win with a 1-0 MAC Commonwealth win at Albright College on Wednesday afternoon in Reading. The Spartans scored in the first four minutes of the game and then held the Lions at bay to earn the victory. York has posted shutouts in five of the six games during their win streak.
The Spartans are now 14-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference while Albright is 7-9 and 3-3 in the MAC Commonwealth.

How It Happened
• The game got off to an incredibly frenetic start as the Lions fired off a shot on goal a mere 1:21 into the game. Albright had a second shot that got cleared off the line by the Green and White to keep the game scoreless. The Lions capped their early game flurry with a penalty corner and a shot that flew wide.
• The Spartans responded with an offensive burst of their own as they squeezed off five shots on goal in a 20 second span. The fifth shot finally found the back of the goal as forward Katie Martino converted the chance for her tenth goal of the year. The goal came 3:11 into the game.
• York finished the first quarter with a 7-2 bulge in shots on goal while both teams had one corner.
• The Spartans controlled play in the scoreless second quarter, out-shooting Albright 5-1. The Green and White also had a 3-0 advantage in penalty corners.
• The third quarter was void of much offense on either side. York held a slight 2-0 edge in shots and in penalty corners during the 15-minute period.
• The fourth quarter lacked any good chances for either team as the Spartans closed out their ninth shutout of the year.
• York finished the game holding a 16-5 edge in total shots and a 12-4 margin in shots on goal. York also held a 7-2 advantage in penalty corners for the game.
