Women's Tennis Falls to Gettysburg in Non-Conference Tilt

The Spartans are still in search of their first fall win

YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team fell to Gettysburg College 6-2 in non-conference action on a beautiful Friday afternoon in York.

The Spartans fall to 0-4 while the Bullets improve to 2-0 with the win.

The Bullets secured the early lead as they won all three doubles points. Elsa Oestermarker and Bri Serruto played well but dropped an 8-5 first doubles loss. The Bullets won the second doubles 8-4 and completed the sweep with an 8-1 third doubles win.

In the match of the day, Gettysburg's Sarah Guistwite outlasted Oestermarker 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 in the first singles match. The Bullets won the second singles match 6-1, 6-1 but Serruto earned a 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 third singles win over Gettysburg's Eden Levkov.

After the Bullets won the fourth singles match, senior Eleanor Beck earned an 8-3, eight-game pro set win over Emma Ward. The sixth singles match between Kennedy Conte and Shoshi Dondes was called because of darkness with the two players tied at seven in the pro set.

The Spartans were scheduled to return to action on Saturday but their match at Marymount (Va.) was postponed due to the wet forecast for the region. York will now close out their fall season on Sunday when they host Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference contest. The match is set for a 12:00 pm start.
