YORK, PA - The York College women's tennis team continued their strong start to the 2022 fall campaign with a 9-0 win over McDaniel College in York on Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans improve to 2-0 while the Green Terror are now 0-1.
The Spartans were dominant in doubles action as they outscored McDaniel by a combined 24-1 in the three doubles contests.
Elsa Oestermarker combined with
Morrissey Walsh for an 8-0 first doubles win.
Eleanor Beck and
Claire Bernard earned another 8-0 win in the third doubles match while freshmen
Bri Serruto and
Hannah Sult earned an 8-1 second doubles victory.
In singles play, the Spartans got three love and one wins. Oestermarker won the first singles match 6-0, 6-1 while Serruto earned a 6-0, 6-1 third singles win. Walsh recorded the third 6-1, 6-0 win in the fourth singles match.
Sult notched a 6-0, 7-5 second singles win over Elizabeth Fyfe to keep the Spartans rolling. Beck earned a 6-1, 6-1 fifth singles win while
Emily Louie closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 sixth singles victory.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, September 24 when York heads to Middletown, PA to take on Penn State Harrisburg. The match is part of a women's/men's doubleheader against the Lions. The match is set for a noon start.
