CHESTER, Pa. - The York softball team closed out the regular season with a conference doubleheader sweep at Widener to clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Softball Championship. York pulled away late to a 6-4 victory in game one before rolling to an 11-2 win in six innings in game two.

GAME 1
York 6, Widener 4

Pitchers of Record
WP: Taylor Lindsay (13-6)
LP: Mikayla Fedele (9-7)

How It Happened
Mikayla Fedele helped her own cause and broke a scoreless tie in the second inning with a two-out RBI single to give her team a 1-0 edge. She went on to silence the Spartans bats with a one-hit shutout through the first three innings.

York broke out of the scoring drought with a Daphney Adams' two-out, two-run homer in the fourth and moved out to a 2-1 lead. Widener regained the lead in the bottom of the frame as Fedelel came through again with two outs with a two-run double as the Pride held a 3-2 edge through four.

The York offense exploded for four runs on four hits in the sixth to pull off the come-from-behind victory. The first four Spartan batters all reached base with Alyssa Harhigh driving in a run with a single and another run came in when Adams reached on an error by the shortstop. The Spartans added two more runs later in the inning on a pair more of Pride fielding errors.

Taylor Lindsay went to shutout the Pride in the final three frames and did allow a hit in the last two innings as she collected her 13th win of the season.

How It Happened

Hannah Vogt tossed a two-high shutout through the first four innings of play and got more run support in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Another Pride error and a Kaela Fritz single extended the Spartan lead to 4-0 in the third. Natalie Decena poked her third home run of the season in the fourth inning as the York lead swelled to 6-0. Morgan Sauers and Decena each drove in a run in the fifth as York took an 8-0 lead with a chance to end the game in the bottom half.

The Pride started the fifth with back-to-back doubles as Ally McDowell traded places with Kaylin Johnson to break up Vogt's shutout bid. Then with two outs, pitcher Liz Renavitz helped her own cause with a RBI-single to cut the deficit to six heading into the sixth inning.

After spoiling the eight-run lead in the fifth, the Spartans got the two runs back that they gave up and added an insurance to secure an early victory. Emma Keller got both of the runs back herself with a two-RBI double to center and Elle Meyer came through with a RBI-single to left for the insurance tally.
