YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team fell to Messiah University 8-1 in MAC Commonwealth play on Tuesday afternoon in York.
The Spartans fall to 0-5 for the season including 0-2 in the league. The Falcons improve to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth.
The Falcons captured the three doubles points with all three matches being close. The Falcons won the first and third doubles by an identical 8-5 score while the second doubles match was an 8-6 final.
The Spartan win came in the fourth singles match as
Ben Dorsey outlasted Josh Gingerich 6-1, 1-6, 10-2. Dorsey improves to 2-3 in dual meet matches and 2-4 overall. He is now 2-1 in fourth singles matches.
Evan Stehman played well in the third singles match as he dropped a three-set decision to Messiah's Michael Sell. He lost 6-3, 6-7 (4), 10-6.
The Spartans are scheduled to return to action on Thursday as they step out of league play to face Grove City. The match is slated for a 3:00 pm start at the Spartan Tennis Centre.
