OWINGS MILLS, MD – The York College women's tennis program won it's second straight MAC Commonwealth match with a 9-0 road win at Stevenson University.
The Spartans improve to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference while Stevenson falls to 5-12 overall and 2-3 in the league.
The Spartans opened doubles play with a 8-0 first doubles win from the tandem of
Elsa Oestermarker and
Lauren Ostermann. The second doubles squad of
Michaela Sentz and
Brianna Rohrer earned an 8-4 win over Jacquelyn Nesbeth and Samantha Zudov. The Spartans completed the sweep as
Morrissey Walsh and
Eleanor Beck earned an 8-3 win over Kera Skove and Jazmine Arias.
Kelsey Sheets picked up York's first singles win as she was victorious in the sixth singles match, besting Arias 6-4, 6-3. Rohrer secured the win with a fourth singles win over Skove, besting the Mustang 6-3, 6-1 to put York up 5-0.
Oestermarker outlasted Torrienne Emery 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 in the first singles match. Ostermann cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 third singles win for the Green and White. Sentz made it 8-0 as she beat Nesbeth 6-2, 6-1 in the second singles match. Walsh closed out the shutout win with a 6-1, 6-2 fifth singles win.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Eastern in a MAC Commonwealth contest. The action in York is set for a 1:00 pm start.
