YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team won their third straight match as they blanked Eastern University 9-0 in MAC Commonwealth play in York on Saturday. The Spartans have won all three matches by identical 9-0 scores.
York improves to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference while the Eagles fall to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in the league.
The Spartans kicked off the day with a trio of wins in doubles play.
Elsa Oestermarker and
Lauren Ostermann combined to post an 8-1 first doubles win.
Brianna Rohrer and
Michaela Sentz teamed up to earn an 8-0 win in the second doubles.
Morrissey Walsh and
Eleanor Beck won the third doubles match by forfeit.
Oestermarker kicked off singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 first singles win over Grace Hope Stevens. Sentz followed with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win over Kayla Patitucci in the second singles match. Ostermann also earned a 6-0, 6-0 shutout third singles win over Brittany Pancoast. Rohrer earned a shutout win of her own as she downed Thea Martin in the fourth singles. Walsh earned York's fourth 6-0, 6-0 win as she beat Mercedes Lohmann in the fifth singles match.
Kelsey Sheets won by forfeit in the sixth singles match.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday when they head to Albright to face the Lions in a MAC Commonwealth contest. The match is slated for an 11:00 am start in Reading.
