YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team recorded their first shutout win of the year as they blanked Hood College 9-0 in MAC Commonwealth play on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in York.
The Spartans improve to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the league while the Blazers fall to 4-5 and 1-3 in the conference.
The Green and White pitched a shutout in the three doubles matches.
Elsa Oestermarker and
Lauren Ostermann combined to down Katie Cautero and Mary Emma Guildi 8-0 in the first doubles match.
Brianna Rohrer and
Michaela Sentz earned their 8-0 win over Cori Mark and Lauren Sheffler in the second doubles contest. The Spartan tandem of
Eleanor Beck and
Morrissey Walsh posted their 8-0 win over Kim Castellano and Shea Jakubowski in the third doubles match.
Oestermarker earned a 6-1, 6-0 first singles win over Cautero. Sentz and Walsh each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories. Sentz beat Guldi in the second singles flight while Walsh beat Castellano in the fifth singles contest.
Ostermann beat Sheffler 6-1, 6-0 in the third singles match while Rohrer earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mark in the fourth singles match.
Kelsey Sheets closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jakubowski in the sixth singles contest.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday, April 20 when they head to Stevenson University to take on the Mustangs in a MAC Commonwealth contest. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start in Owings Mills, Maryland.
