How It Happened
• The Spartans got on the board first in the top of the second as
Brendan Martin got hit by a pitch, moved to second on a failed pick off then scored on a
Garrett Kile two-out RBI double.
• The Dutchmen answered back in the bottom of the third. LVC loaded the bases with two outs thanks to a hit, a walk and a Spartan error. A wild pitch tied the game at one and then Ryan Petrucci singled to center to score a pair, giving the hosts a 3-1 lead.
• LVC added to the lead in the fifth with a four run inning. Mike Bulgia blasted a three run homer to left to push the lead to 6-1. Shane Stossel added an RBI single later in the inning as the Dutchmen led 7-1 after five innings of play.
• York got a single run back in the top of the seventh as
Brian Jakubek had an RBI single. However, the Dutchmen blew the game wide open with a six run inning, removing all doubt about the outcome of the game.
• York closed out the scoring in the ninth as
Robby Elzinga was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to provide for the final margin.
