How It Happened
Elle Meyer gave the Spartans a strong start as she tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit, striking out two and walking just one.

The Spartan offense broke out for four runs on four hits in the third. With two outs, Meyer tripled and then came in to score as Alyssa Harhigh reached on an error by the center fielder. Harhigh advanced to third on the play and scored on an error by the third baseman. Daphney Adams kept the rally going with a single up the middle which set the table for an Emma Wade two-run homer to left.

York got back on the board in the fourth again with a two-out rally. Taylor Coon kept the inning alive with a single to left and then scored on another Morris fielding error after Meyer singled. A harhigh double down the left field line brought in Meyer from second.

Hannah Vogt kept the Cougar bats quiet through the third and fourth innings to collect the win. Vogt looked strong as she tossed 2.0 shutout innings, allowing zero hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

After the Cougars broke up the shutout in the fifth, the Spartans jumped Morris again in the sixth with another two-out rally. Harhigh wore a pitch to load the bases for Adams who singled through the left side which allowed Coon and Meyer to score. Wade followed with a single up the middle to score Harhigh for the game-ending run.
