YORK, PA – The 2021-22 York College men's basketball season come to a sudden halt as the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen upset the Spartans 73-65 in the opening round of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The Dutchmen outscored York 41-24 in the second half to earn the opening round win.Â
The Dutchmen advance to face top seeded Eastern University in the tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened
• The Spartans got off to a great start as the Green and White raced out to an 11-4 lead less than five minutes into the game. The Spartan lead bounced between five an eight points before the Spartans got a
Sean Kelly three followed by a
David Giuliani lay up to push the lead to ten at 26-16.
• York built the lead to as high as two twice in the final seven minutes including on a
Johnny Kennevan three with 22 seconds left in the half. Unfortunately, LVC's Zach Tucker answered the Kennevan three with a trip of his own with five seconds left as York led 41-32 at the half.
• The Dutchmen came flying out of the break as they erased their nine point deficit in 3:24 of game time to start the second half. LVC kept rolling as they pushed their lead to five with a 17-6 run over the first six minutes of the second half.
• York trimmed the LVC lead to three at the 12:12 mark only to have the Dutchmen score the next six points, extended the lead back to nine. York made one last charge, cutting their deficit to four on a
Travis Stoll three with 6:35 left in the game. The Dutchmen once again had the answer as they quickly pushed the lead back to eight. LVC grew the lead to a game high 13 with 53 seconds left in the game. York scored seven straight points in one last gasp effort but York ran out of time as the Dutchmen notched the eight-point win.

The Spartans shot a blistering 51.5% from the floor in the first half but connected on just 7-of-33 (21.2%) from the floor in the second half as they ended up shooting 36.4% from the floor in the game … York went 7-for-21 from three in the first half and 3-for-18 from distance in the second half … Conversely, LVC shot 34.3% in the first half and 51.9% in the second half … the Dutchmen were very good from the free throw line as they went 16-for-19 while York was 7-for-11 … York held a 50-32 edge in rebounding … the 18 rebound margin was the third biggest bulge on the glass for the Spartans this year … the Spartans forced a season low four turnovers in the loss … Zach Tucker poured in a game-high 27 points, tying him with Alvernia's Malik Green for the highest total points by a Spartan opponent in a game this season … Tucker was 10-for-16 from the floor including 2-for-5 from three and 5-for-8 from the line … Tucker also had seven rebounds, three assists and a steal.
