#10 Hopkins Races Past Spartans in the Second Half

Blue Jays outscored York 46-32 in the second half

BALTIMORE, MD – The tenth-ranked Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays used a big second half to down the York College men's basketball team 82-63 in non-conference play on Wednesday night in Baltimore.
The Blue Jays outscored the Spartans 46-32 in the second half, turning a five-point halftime lead into a 19-point win.
The Spartans fall to 2-2 while the Blue Jays improve to 2-1.

How It Happened
• The Blue Jays held a 11-10 lead just over six minutes into the game. Carson James scored the next five points of the game to take a 16-10 lead. Jackson Mascari answered with five points of his own to cut the Blue Jay lead to 16-15.
• The Hopkins lead would vacillate between one and seven points until the Blue Jays increased the lead to nine on a pair of Charlie Jackson lay-ups with 2:17 left in the half. Kai Cipalla hit a pair of lay-ups in the final 1:23 to trim the Spartans' halftime deficit to 36-31.
• The Blue Jays got off to a quick start to the second half as John Windley drilled a three pointer for the first bucket of the half. That kick started a 17-6 run that gave the Blue Jays a 53-37 lead. The run was capped by a pair of Ethan Bartlett three pointers. York cut the lead to 13 on a Shawn Barclay three with 12:14 left. That is close as the Spartans would get the rest of the way as Hopkins pushed the lead to as many as 25 before settling for the 19-point win.
