BALTIMORE, MD – The tenth-ranked Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays used a big second half to down the York College men's basketball team 82-63 in non-conference play on Wednesday night in Baltimore.
The Blue Jays outscored the Spartans 46-32 in the second half, turning a five-point halftime lead into a 19-point win.
The Spartans fall to 2-2 while the Blue Jays improve to 2-1.

How It Happened
• The Blue Jays held a 11-10 lead just over six minutes into the game. Carson James scored the next five points of the game to take a 16-10 lead.
Jackson Mascari answered with five points of his own to cut the Blue Jay lead to 16-15.
• The Hopkins lead would vacillate between one and seven points until the Blue Jays increased the lead to nine on a pair of Charlie Jackson lay-ups with 2:17 left in the half.
Kai Cipalla hit a pair of lay-ups in the final 1:23 to trim the Spartans' halftime deficit to 36-31.
• The Blue Jays got off to a quick start to the second half as John Windley drilled a three pointer for the first bucket of the half. That kick started a 17-6 run that gave the Blue Jays a 53-37 lead. The run was capped by a pair of Ethan Bartlett three pointers. York cut the lead to 13 on a
Shawn Barclay three with 12:14 left. That is close as the Spartans would get the rest of the way as Hopkins pushed the lead to as many as 25 before settling for the 19-point win.

By the Numbers
The Spartans shot 45.8% (27-for-59) from the floor but were just 4-for-23 (17.4%) from distance … the Spartans also struggled from the free throw line as they were 5-for-10 for the game … the Blue Jays were fantastic from beyond the arc, converting 14-for-32 from distance while they shot 47.5% from the floor overall … the Jays went 10-for-15 (66.7%) from the free throw line … the much bigger Blue Jays dominated on the glass holding a 45-24 bulge on the glass … Hopkins held a 10-6 edge in second chance points … York had a 40-28 advantage in points in the paint … York had just eight turnovers but Hopkins turned those miscues into 13 points.

York is now 6-4 all-time against the Blue Jays as Hopkins has won three straight in the series …
Jackson Mascari set a new career-high with his 18 points in the game … he added six rebounds, four assists and a steal in 31 minutes of action … Mascari has reached double figures in all four games this year …
Kai Cipalla was the other Spartan in double figures with 14 points while he also had three rebounds … freshman
Tate Landis set a new career-high with six points … the Spartans' four three-pointers made was a season-low … York is 16-for-34 from the free throw line over their last three games after going 16-for-22 in the season opener against Dickinson.
