Team Records
York 12-14
Christopher Newport 19-11

How It Happened
  • York jumped out to a 9-5 lead on a Briyana Shepard kill, but that lead was quickly erased by a five-point run by the Captains which put them in the lead for good. CNU went on to put the set away with an 8-1 run to clinch the 25-15 victory.
  • CNU rushed out to a 10-3 run to force a Spartan timeout to start the second set. The Captains continued to roll out of the break as they reached 20 points before York could get to double-digits and went on to clinch the second set, 25-13.
  • The Captains dominated the final set and reached the 20-point mark while holding York to six as they took the final set, 25-10. Morgan Nolte and Shepard led the Spartans with three kills each in the third frame.

Match Two
Team Records
Averett 18-9
York 12-15

How It Happened
  • The two sides went back-and-forth to open the match as York took an initial 3-0 lead before Averett countered with a 5-0 to take the lead and held it the rest of the way. The Spartans chipped away as Shepard led York with three kills in the set, but it was not enough as the Cougars rolled to a 25-14 win.
  • The Spartans had the jump Averett to open the second set as a pair of Abby Diehl service aces fueled a 5-2 advantage. York later capitalized on three Averett attack errors which fueled a 6-1 Spartan run as they held a 17-10 lead. Averett came storming back on a 12-2  run to take a 22-19 lead and held on to the lead the rest of the way for a 25-23 victory.
  • The Spartans came out strong once again and opened up a 10-5 lead on two Alyssa Mott service aces and two Jennifer Taylor kills to force a Cougar timeout to start the third set. The set went back-and-forth until Averett ripped off seven-straight to take a 24-19 lead which ultimately led to a 25-20 win to clinch the match.
