IJAMSVILLE, MD – The York College men's golf squad picked up their second win in as many days as they won the MAC Fall Preview at the Club at PB Dye in Ijamsville, Maryland.
The Spartans shot a team total of 309 to cruise past second place Stevenson by 11 strokes. Hood finished third at 327 followed by Eastern at 335. Lancaster Bible rounded out the top five at 345.
The Spartan duo of
Riley Rohlfs and
Matthew Salter tied for the top spot in the individual standings as they shot 75. Rohlfs earned the tiebreaker and the individual tournament championship as he edged Salter in the tiebreaker which was back nine score. Rohlfs shot 37 while Salter shot 38. The championship is the fifth career title for Rohlfs in his 29 career tournament for the Spartans. The top five finish for Salter is his second as a Spartan.
Sophomore
Gavin Ganter was York's third finisher as he shot a six-over-par 78 to tie for fifth. Senior
Ian Arnold was York's final scorer in the tournament as he shot 81 to finish tied for eighth. Senior
Nick Fioravante was York's fifth tournament participant as he finished tied for 17
th with a score of 84.
Freshman
Jacob Fripp played as an individual for the Spartans and he finished tied for 12
th after shooting an 82.
The Spartans close out their fall campaign on Monday, October 31 when they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to play in the two-day O'Briant Jensen Memorial Tournament hosted by Guilford College. Monday's action is set for an 11:00 am start.
