IJAMSVILLE, MD – The York College men's golf squad picked up their first win of the year, capturing victory at the Hood Fall Invitational at the Club at PB Dye in Ijamsville, Maryland.
The Spartans finished with a score of 327, edging Albright as the Lions shot 330 as a squad. Hood finished third at 331 while Alvernia rounded out the four-team field at 335.
The Spartans were paced by sophomore
Matthew Ruzomberka as he shot a six-over-par 78. Ruzomberka and Jack Lynam tied for second, one shot back of tournament medalist Ben Egin from Albright who shot 77.
Sophomore
Jason Velez was York's second finisher as he shot an 80 to finish all alone in fifth place.
A pair of freshman were York's next finishers as
Sawyer Marten and
Nate Myers made their collegiate debuts. Marten finished tied for 11
th as he shot an 84. Myers was one stroke back of Marten at 85 to finish all alone in 13
th.
Graduate student
Dylan Wyatt rounded out the Spartans' starters as he shot a 94 to finish 25
th in the tournament.
Sophomore
Bennett Elgin participated as an individual for the tournament. He shot an 86 to end in a four-way tie for 14th in his 2022 season debut.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday as they travel back down to Ijamsville to participate in the MAC Fall Preview. The tournament is slated for a 10:00 am start at the Club at PB Dye.
