YORK, PA - York College junior goalie
Brady Bixler has been selected as the Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Men's Soccer Defender of the Week as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Bixler had a fantastic week as he logged 220 minutes in goal. Bixler began the week by holding a dangerous Marymount offense to a season-low one goal in a 1-1 draw. Bixler also helped lead a defensive unit that held the reigning United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week, Leonardo Torres from Marymount, off the score sheet.
Bixler saved his best performance of the week for last as he posted a career-best 13 saves in a 2-2 draw at #6 Rochester. Bixler was tested literally from start to finish, making his first save in the sixth minute and his final save in the 110th minute. The Spartan keeper was clutch down the stretch as he made a combined total of six saves in the overtime periods facing a barrage of shots from the Yellow Jacket offense.
