YORK, PA – The York College women's swim squad completed the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships this past weekend. The Spartans finished fifth in the 14-team field as the accumulated 794.5 points. Messiah won the team championship with 1117 points. Widener finished second with 898.5 points while Misericordia was third at 875.5 points. Arcadia finished fourth with 868.5 points. The Spartans came home with four total medals. York earned one gold, two silvers and one bronze medal.
Senior Alyssa Coon was fantastic on the weekend. She won York's lone individual championship as she was victorious in the 100 butterfly in a time of 59.35. She picked up a silver medal in the 200 butterfly as she touched the wall in a time of 2:13.98. Coon also earned a bronze medal as a part of the 800 free relay team. Coon also earned points as a part of the 400 free and medley relay teams in addition to finishing fifth in the 500 freestyle event.
Megan Kane earned a silver for the Spartans as she was second in the 200 freestyle, recording a time of 2:00.45. Kane also picked up additional point for her sixth place finish in the 1650 free while she was also a part of the 400 free relay team that finished fifth and the 200 medley relay team that placed sixth.
The Spartans had nine individuals earn top ten finishes and five top ten relay finishes.

Senior Alyssa Coon was York's top point scorer as she totaled 85 points to finish tied for fourth in the conference … junior Megan Kane also finished inside the top 20 in points scored as she had 75 total points, good for 17th place … Coon's time of 59.35 in the 100 butterfly was the top mark in the MAC for the year … Coon's time of 2:13.98 in the 200 butterfly bested her previous best effort of 2:23.07 … Kane's time of 2:00.45 in the 200 freestyle is the second best time in the event for the MAC this year, second to Albright's Megan Misurelli who swam a time of 1:59.37 at the championships … the Spartans swam at Messiah on Friday night, in York on Saturday and then at Albright on Sunday as the complete championship was held virtually … the Spartans compete in the MAC for the first time after moving into the league from the Capital Athletic Conference.
