YORK, PA – The York College women's basketball team bounced back from a season-opening loss to roll past Penn State Abington 84-35 in the semifinals of the 14
th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in York. The Spartans advance to face Washington College as the Shorewomen bested Montclair State 55-47 in the other semifinal game of the tournament. Â

How It Happened
• The Spartans got off to a great start as they led 14-2 midway through the opening quarter. The Spartans ended the quarter on a 7-0 run as they pushed the lead to 24-6 after ten minutes of play.
Cassidy Arnold was huge in the opening ten minutes as she poured in nine points, grabbed seven rebounds, had two steals and one assist in leading York to the 18-point first quarter lead.
• The Lions had their best quarter in the second as they outscored York 19-15. The Lions cut the Spartan lead to 14 at the half thanks to a Cassie Tavormina jumper just prior to the break.
• York removed all doubt about the outcome of the game in the third as they held Abington to just three third quarter points while they put 25 on the board. The Spartans began the quarter on a 21-0 run to push the lead to 60-25. The Spartans led 64-28 after 30 minutes of play.
• York kept rolling in the fourth as they outscored Abington 20-7. The final 49-point margin of victory matched the largest lead of the day for the Green and White.
