Box Score YORK, PA – The York College women's basketball team picked up a key CAC victory over conference rival Salisbury 72-62 on Wednesday evening. Senior Katie McGowan led all scorers with 29 points as she recorded her 1,000th career point in the win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• The Spartans came out of the gates on fire opening up a 7-0 run and held the Sea Gulls scoreless for the first 3:05 of the contest. Salisbury clawed back into the game but the Spartan offense stayed scorching hot and ran off a 20-5 run within the first two periods to build a 31-11 lead.
• Salisbury tried to gain some momentum before the half but York hit a pair of threes in the final 39 seconds including a half court heave at the buzzer by Debria Hendricks to give the Spartans a 42-21 halftime advantage.
• Senior Katie McGowan took over in the second half shooting 8-for-13 and pouring in 19 of her game-high 29 points. Salisbury never got the Spartan lead below double-digits in the second half and with 24 seconds left in regulation McGowan finished a layup to give her 1,000 career points in front of the home crowd. York completed their wire-to-wire victory winning 72-62.

GAME NOTES
The Spartans are now 23-33 all time against the Sea Gulls ending a brief two-game skid against Salisbury … York has now won five of their last six games and has heated up offensively scoring an average of 68.2 points per game over that stretch … York won the turnover battle as they snatched up 11 steals which was the 11th double-digit steal performance on the season while also only committing 11 turnovers which ties a season-low that they have done two other times … Katie McGowan became the 16th Spartan in school history to reach the 1,000 point mark as she tied her career-high with 29 points … McGowan is averaging just under 22 points per game in conference play and 18 points per game overall good for second-best in the conference … she now has nine 20-point performances this season … Debria Hendricks tallied 14 points in the win and has put up double-figures five times in the last seven times out … Logynn Fuller knocked down three more triples to give her a team-leading 41 on the year and has hit at least three three-pointers in four of her last five games … Kayla Ferris has been a rebounding machine of late and with 10 rebounds in the win and has grabbed at least 10 boards in four consecutive games and now averages just under seven rebounds a game … York is now 7-5 at home and have won five straight in Charles Wolf Gymnasium … the Spartans are now tied for fourth in the league battling with Frostburg State for the fourth place spot to secure a home playoff game.
