How It Happened
• Stevenson edged York, 15-14, at the end of one quarter of play as the Mustangs posted a prolific 58.3% field goal percentage. The Mustangs opened up a six-point lead midway through the first quarter, but the Spartans closed the gap with a 7-2 run to end the quarter as they took advantage of seven Stevenson turnovers during that stretch.
• The Mustangs opened up the second quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 23-16 lead, but the Spartans pulled even, 23-23, with 4:32 left to play in the half. Unfortunately, the York offense cooled off as Stevenson ended the half with a 10-2 run to take a 33-25 lead into the locker room.
• The Spartans out-scored Stevenson, 18-12, in the third quarter with their best shooting quarter of the night, going 42.9% from the floor. The Mustangs shot an efficient 5-for-12 from the floor in the quarter, but their seven turnovers nullified their hot-shooting effort.
• York remained well within striking distance entering the fourth quarter trailing 45-43, but the offense struggled to find a rhythm down the stretch, shooting just 4-for-23 in the final frame. The Spartans finished the game shooting 26.3% from the floor, while the Mustangs compiled a stellar 47.1% field goal percentage.
