How It Happened:
• The Spartans started the scoring at the 12:57 mark into the game when Greta Plappert was on the receiving end of a Lindsay Nye assist to give York an early 1-0 lead.
• The Hornets tied it up late in the first half when Taylor Green was able to find the back of the net on an unassisted play, the score would remain 1-1 at halftime.
• In the second half, Hornet leading scorer Nikki Simpao tallied her ninth goal on the season off a nice pass from Emily Dudley to give Lynchburg 2-1 lead halfway through the second period.
• A few minutes later, the Spartan defense held strong after playing almost two minutes two defenders down because of green and yellow cards.
• With three and a half minutes remaining, the Spartans tied it up 2-2 when Julea Truskey tapped in a pass from Greta Plappert on the back post.
• Only 1:32 later, Julea Truskey was on the back post again but this time Peyton Martino with the assist and Truskey tapped in another goal to give the Spartans a late 3-2 advantage that would hold up the last two minutes of regulation giving the Spartans the win.
