Spartans Come Up Short Against #1 Messiah

GRANTHAM, PA – The York College men's soccer team fell in a hard fought match against the #1 Messiah Falcons 1-0 on a cool Thursday afternoon.

How It Happened

• The first half was a defensive struggle with only 11 shots total throughout the first 45 minutes of play.

• Messiah finally broke the tie when Nick West scored his 11th goal of the season off a free kick from about 20 yards out to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.

• The score would remain the same for the rest of the game and even though the Spartans had some opportunities, Messiah's defense held strong and Connor Bell saved all five shots in his direction to preserve the 1-0 victory for the Falcons over York.

York is now 5-16-3 against the Falcons … the loss marks the fifth in a row in the series … the loss was the first road loss on the season for York …the Spartans are now 3-1 on the road … all three losses this season have come in a shutout fashion … the loss was the second straight 1-0 loss to Messiah and the third time in the last four seasons York has fallen to the Falcons 1-0.
