GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• The first quarter was tightly played with neither team being able to assert control of the game. York was able to jump out to an early 7-2 lead after a Katie McGowan layup and never relinquished that lead for the remainder of first period and led 17-14.
• The second quarter was the only time the Spartans trailed for the entire game where they trailed for a combined 1:47 with three separate occasions the Spartans trailed by just one point. Logynn Fuller connected on a three-pointer to give York a 24-22 lead and kept that lead into the intermission as they again led by three, this time 33-30.
• The Spartans controlled the third period leading the entire way and building the lead up to seven points going into the fourth quarter off another Fuller three-ball with nine seconds left in the quarter. Leading scorers McGowan and Ferris combined for 12 of the 20 points for the team in the quarter.
• The fourth quarter was controlled by York again as they hit their free throws down the stretch and never gave up their lead and even pushed it out to nine points early in the fourth. Debria Hendricks hit two clutch free throws with just seconds remaining to give the Spartans a three-point lead and seal the 69-66 victory over the Falcons.

GAME NOTES
The Spartans are now 11-33 all time against the Falcons … York has won their last seven season openers … sophomore Kayla Ferris, in her second career start, recorded a career high 17 points and also added 10 boards which was also a career high … this was Ferris' first career double-double … senior Katie McGowan picked up right where she left off last year with 17 points of her own after having 19 such games where she scored double-digit points last season … the Spartans led the game for 38:13 of the 40:00 with their largest deficit being only one point.
